今年是雅思考試20周年，為了更好地服務(wù)考生、回饋社會(huì)，雅思考試主辦方將采取一系列措施來完善考試服務(wù)。9月份起，上海市、內(nèi)蒙古自治區(qū)以及江西省的三個(gè)新考點(diǎn)將陸續(xù)投入使用，分別位于上海對(duì)外貿(mào)易學(xué)院（松江大學(xué)城）、內(nèi)蒙古師范大學(xué)和南昌大學(xué)。其中，上海對(duì)外貿(mào)易學(xué)院作為上海地區(qū)第三個(gè)雅思考試中心，將于10月24日舉行第一場(chǎng)考試。其它兩個(gè)考點(diǎn)均為當(dāng)?shù)厥讉€(gè)考試中心，第一場(chǎng)考試將于9月26日舉行。即日起，這三個(gè)新考點(diǎn)都可接受考生報(bào)名。這意味著從今年下半年開始，全國31個(gè)城市將開設(shè)有34個(gè)雅思考點(diǎn)。

As part of its 20th anniversary celebration this year the organisers of IELTS have launched a range of initiatives to better serve its customers. Among the highlights are the opening of three new test centres from September in Shanghai, Inner Mongolia and Jiangxi provinces.
The new test centres are located at the Shanghai Institute for Foreign Trade (Songjiang University City), Inner Mongolia Normal University and Nanchang University. The test centre at Shanghai Institute for Foreign Trade is the third IELTS test centre in Shanghai and will host its first test on 24 October. The other two test centres are the first test centres in their respective cities and will host their first tests on 26 September. Enrolments for all three test centres are now open. With these new additions to the test centre network there are now 34 IELTS test centres in China. Planning is underway for another new test centre in North China to be announced later this year.
The organisers of IELTS revealed that apart from opening more test centres they are closely following market changes in order to meet test demand. In cities with high numbers of test takers such as Beijing, Shanghai and Hangzhou there are on average 3-4 tests per month. For most test centres, candidates can register up to one month before the test. Candidates can register at the IELTS enrolment website http://ielts.etest.net.cn and view the test schedule for all China test centres. The official Chinese language IELTS site www.chinaielts.org also has more information on the test.
The past few years have seen substantial increases in the numbers of IELTS candidates. IELTS has emerged as the undisputed leader in English testing for overseas study or immigration purposes in China. Over 260,000 candidates took IELTS in 2008 and in 2009 the year on year growth figures continue to be in the double digits. James Shipton, Director for IELTS China said: “IELTS is experiencing growth all over the world and especially in China. We already see the large demand for IELTS in China. This is because IELTS is becoming more and more recognised as a high quality English test that can be used to apply for overseas study.”
To celebrate its 20th anniversary the organisers of IELTS have launched a range of extra benefits for candidates. In March 2009 the IELTS Chinese language website and online learning course ‘Road to IELTS’ were launched as free added-value services for Chinese candidates. As a comprehensive English language ability testing system, IELTS has been recognised by 6000 institutions around the world including universities, educational institutions, immigration bodies and enterprises. Over 2100 US institutions now recognise IELTS results including many top institutions favoured by Chinese students and the eight ‘Ivy league’ schools.

Road to IELTS is a free online course offered to candidates in order to help them improve confidence and understanding of the IELTS format. The course is designed to be a self-access complement to other forms of training and takes the test candidate through all four parts of the test; reading, listening, speaking and charts and tables. The material gives explanations of question types and provides tips on how to handle the tasks.
‘Road to IELTS’ can be accessed any time and from anywhere with an internet connection. Candidates can practice listening tasks under the same timed conditions as they would in the actual exam. In the Speaking section, sample videos take the learner through each stage of the speaking test providing models of good and less good practice and giving opportunities to analyse different interview techniques.
After completing the practice questions, test takers can view the correct answers and see their percentage score.
‘Road to IELTS’ is available now and is open to any person who has registered for an IELTS test. From the time of registration, test takers may access the materials as often as they wish until one week after their written test date. ‘Road to IELTS’ offers 120 hours of content divided into 4 parts – currently one part is available for candidates. Candidates who take IELTS more than once will potentially have access to different practice material.
