as 作為英語中一個(gè)非?；钴S的詞，其引導(dǎo)的從句在中學(xué)階級(jí)較為多見，它們的種類應(yīng)根據(jù)實(shí)際意義具體分析判定。筆者現(xiàn)將 as 引導(dǎo)的從句歸納并說明如下：
一、 as 充當(dāng)連詞，引導(dǎo)狀語從句。
1. 引導(dǎo)時(shí)間狀語從句，主句動(dòng)作與從句動(dòng)作同時(shí)發(fā)生，譯為“當(dāng)……的時(shí)候；一邊……一邊”。如：
As the students watched him quietly， he mixed the three together.
當(dāng)學(xué)生們靜靜地看著他的時(shí)候，他把這三種液體攪和在一起。
As the pupils walked along the lake， they sang happily.
學(xué)生們沿著湖一邊走，一邊高興地唱著。
2. 引導(dǎo)原因狀語從句，從句所表達(dá)的原因是比較明顯的，已為人們所知的。如：
As he did not know much English， he got out his dictionary and looked up the word “ cough ” .
由于他英語懂得不多，就拿出字典來查“咳嗽”這個(gè)詞。
As it was getting very late， we soon turned back.
因?yàn)楹芡砹?，我們很快就回來了?BR> 3. 引導(dǎo)方式狀語從句，此時(shí) as 可譯為“如；像；按照”。如：
Remember， you must do everything as I do.
記住，你們都要照我這樣做。
When at Rome do as the Romans do.
（諺語）入鄉(xiāng)隨俗。
I have changed it as you suggested.
我已經(jīng)按照你的建議把它改好了。
4. 引導(dǎo)讓步狀語從句，多用于書面語中，且須用部分倒裝語序，即將從句的表語或狀語等前置。它比 though 和 although 引導(dǎo)的讓步狀語從句更有表現(xiàn)力，語氣更強(qiáng)。如：
Poor as he was （＝ Though he was poor ） he was honest.
他雖然貧窮，但很誠實(shí)。
Child as she is， she speaks English well.
雖然她是個(gè)孩子，但英語卻講得很好。
Fast as you read， you can't finish the book in two days.
盡管你讀得很快，但你不能在兩天內(nèi)讀完這本書。
5. 引導(dǎo)比較狀語從句，從句通?？刹捎檬÷孕问?， as 譯為“像……一樣”。如：
It isn't as （ so ） cold as it was yesterday.
今天不像昨天那么冷。
二 . as 充當(dāng)關(guān)系代詞，引導(dǎo)定語從句
1. 引導(dǎo)限制性定語從句，在從句中作主語、賓語、表語等成分，先行詞通常被 such， the same 所修飾，構(gòu)成“ such … as， the same … as ”結(jié)構(gòu)。如：
You made the same mistake as （ you did ） last time.
你犯了和上次一樣的錯(cuò)誤。
You must show my wife the same respect as you show me.
你必須尊敬我的妻子，像你尊敬我一樣。
Such women as knew Tom （ = Those women who knew Tom ） thought he was charming.
認(rèn)識(shí)湯姆的女人都認(rèn)為他很有魅力。
2. 引導(dǎo)非限制性定語從句， as 所代表的不是主句中的某個(gè)名詞或代詞，而是整個(gè)主句。 as 可放在主句前面或后面。如：
As is known to all， Taiwan is part of China.
眾所周知，臺(tái)灣是中國的一部分。
As we have seen， oceans cover more than 70 percent of the earth.
我們知道，海洋占地球面積的 70 ％以上。
