Millions of British people cast votes in a series of elections across the UK on May 5, a date that was dubbed “Super Thursday”. But the most hotly anticipated election that day was the London mayoral vote. Sadiq Khan, 45, the son of a bus driver, became London’s first Muslim mayor on May 6. He is London’s third directly elected mayor, after Ken Livingstone and Boris Johnson.
