On July 21, the United Nations Security Council conducted its first straw poll in the selection process for the next UN secretary-general. The 15-member council will hold several rounds of straw polling before the result is announced. Antonio Guterres, Portugal’s former prime minister, currently ranks first with 12 votes of support.
7月21日，聯(lián)合國安理會進行了針對下一任秘書長選舉的首輪意向性投票。安理會15個成員國將在結果正式宣布前舉行多輪意向性投票。目前，葡萄牙前總理安東尼奧•古特雷斯以12票的支持領跑。
馬上學：“意向性投票”指的是測試安理會成員對正式候選人的意向，并非為了做決定。關于投票的英文表達還有one-vote veto (一票否決權)、differential voting (差額投票)、secret ballot (無記名投票)等。
