The secretary told me that Mr. Harmsworth would see me. I felt very nervous when I went into his office. He did not look up from his desk when I entered. After I had sat down, he said that business was very bad. He told me that the firm could not afford to pay such large salaries. Twenty people had already left. I knew that my turn had come. ‘Mr. Harmsworth,' I said in a weak voice. ‘Don't interrupt,' he Said. Then he smiled and told me I would receive an extra &100 a year!
本文語(yǔ)法：直接引語(yǔ)和間接引語(yǔ)
語(yǔ)法歸納：直接引語(yǔ)就是直接引用別人的話，并把它放在引號(hào)內(nèi);間接引語(yǔ)就是用自己的話轉(zhuǎn) 述別人的話，不加引號(hào)。直接引語(yǔ)變間接引語(yǔ)時(shí)需要注意相應(yīng)人稱、時(shí)態(tài)變化。
1)陳述句變化：常用say/tell+that連接
直接引語(yǔ)：“I never do anything on Sundays,” he said.他說:“我星期日什么事都不做?！?BR> 間接引語(yǔ)：He said that he never did anything on Sundays.
2)—般疑問句變化：常用whether/if連接
