有些部門(mén)或機(jī)構(gòu)的首長(zhǎng)或主管的英譯，可以用一些通用的頭銜詞表示，例如下列機(jī)構(gòu)的負(fù)責(zé)人可以用 director, head 或 chief 來(lái)表示：
    司(部屬)department
    廳(省屬)department
    署(省屬)office(行署為administrative office)
    局 bureau
    所 institute
    處 division
    科 section
    股 section
    室 office
    教研室 program / section
    例：
    局長(zhǎng) director of the bureau; head of the bureau; bureau chief。
    國(guó)務(wù)院 the State Council 屬下的部為 ministry，所以部長(zhǎng)叫作 minister。
    另外，公署專員叫作commissioner，其辦事機(jī)構(gòu)叫作“專員公署”，英語(yǔ)為 prefectural commissioner's office。
