  JOB OPPORTUNITIES

  1. What job opportunities does Roland Berger offer?

Career opportunities are based on your academic progress or your work experience:

Students can do an internship to gain insight into our company and our way of working. Especially for students in the MBA course, we offer our Summer Associate Program after the first MBA year. It takes place in one of our offices worldwide and lasts two to three months.

We offer university graduates the opportunity to join us as Analyst or Junior Consultant. If you have a Ph.D. or a second degree or have already gained professional experience, entry at a higher career level is possible. After completing an MBA at a prestigious business school, you'll start as a Senior Consultant. Also, applicants with professional experience in industry and/or consulting are very welcome at Roland Berger. The position you start at greatly depends on your particular background.

  REQUIREMENTS

  1. What requirements are expected of Roland Berger applicants?

Apart from excellent high school and university grades, we value challenging practical experience very much, as well as time spent studying abroad or internships. In most countries we expect a very good level of the local language and excellent English skills. You should have a winning personality and strong analytical and conceptual skills, as well as contribute creativity, teamwork and communication skills.

  2. Is Roland Berger only looking for people with a business background?

Of course not: 50% of our consultants have degrees in engineering, natural sciences, social sciences or humanities – which is great. This diversity enables us to build our successful interdisciplinary project teams. Across all fields, our employees have one thing in common: they contribute their interest for business and are true entrepreneurs at heart.

  PROSPECTS/ PROGRAMS

  1. How does Roland Berger prepare me for everyday consulting?

Every new employee around the world learns how we work and is trained in our methods at a two-week introductory seminar. If you do not have a business degree, we also make you familiar with training in business basics. On your first few projects, experienced colleagues will assist you in learning the ropes and will give you valuable tips. Numerous internal and external seminars will bring you up to speed for project tasks and the next stages of your career.DETAILS

  2. What salary can I expect?

Roland Berger offers an attractive starting salary plus a bonus – other perks depend on the respective office.DETAILS

  3. How does Roland Berger support my professional and personal development?

Our extensive program of seminars on management topics and techniques as well as social, personal and leadership skills will promote your personal development. In addition, we support you with our MBA program at a prestigious business school. As part of our international exchange programs, you can move to one of our offices worldwide for six months to two years.DETAILS

  4. How is my performance evaluated?

You will receive regular feedback from your Project Manager. In addition, semi-annual feedback meetings are held with your mentor to plan and advance your personal and professional development.DETAILS

  5. What opportunities are offered to maintain the balance between job and private life?

Roland Berger helps you reconcile your professional ambitions and private life. With a sabbatical, we enable you to take a break from everyday consulting: you can take one to six months – just for yourself, your family and friends – to learn something new or to fulfill a lifelong dream. We find custom-made solutions for you – be it a sabbatical or a flexible work schedule.

  PROJECT WORK

  1. What is the average length of a project and how many consultants are assigned to a project?

There is no such thing as the typical project. Our projects are based on client needs and the particular task to be solved. Therefore, a project can take a few weeks or even a year. This also applies to the size of a team: There are projects that are handled by one to three consultants. And large projects where more than 20 are necessary.DETAILS

  2. Where do the projects take place?

We work closely with our clients. Therefore, depending on the project and the client's preferences, our consultants work four days on-site. Fridays are usually spent at the office. Since projects often do not take place where you live, you'll have to be willing to travel.DETAILS

  3. What is the percentage of international projects?

Roland Berger offers many opportunities to contribute to international projects. This includes projects where you work with our clients abroad: currently, over 75% of our work is international. Moreover, with our transfer programs, you can move to and work at one of our worldwide offices for periods of one to five years.

  APPLICATION PROCESS

  1. What documents do you require?

Your application should include a cover letter and a detailed résumé (CV). We recommend that you tailor your application to the position you want. Consider and clarify exactly why you want to join us. Use points from your résumé to explain why you believe you would fit in at Roland Berger.DETAILS

  2. Do I have to apply for an advertised position?

We are constantly looking for new consultants and look forward to receiving your application. In addition, you can apply for advertised positions – as a specialist with a specific consultancy focus or for a position in one of our support areas.DETAILS

  3. When can I apply?

Since there is no fixed hiring period for internships and consulting positions, you can apply at any time.DETAILS

  4. How much processing time should I expect for my application?

Ideally, you should apply about three or four months before your desired starting date – applications earlier than this are also possible. In general, the selection process will be completed within six to eight weeks. This process can often be quite fast in the case of an internship.DETAILS

  5. How do I apply?

We prefer that you apply online using our application form on the Internet. You can also send us your complete application by post.DETAILS

  6. What happens with my online application?

Applications received via our online form can be processed faster. Automatic filtering does not take place. Our Recruiting Team will see your attached documents and will decide within 14 days whether to invite you to Selection Day.DETAILS

  7. Can I apply abroad?

If you wish to apply abroad, please send your documents directly to the relevant office. Find your contact for any location here.DETAILS

  8. What can I expect on selection day?

On our Selection Day you'll be taken through several different modules – including personal and technical interviews and discussion of case examples from our consulting practice. We want to get to know you as a person and find out how structured and analytically you approach a task; whether you can contribute your creative talent and if you have a feeling for figures.DETAILS

  9. Can I apply again at Roland Berger if I have been turned down in the past?

If your application is not successful, it often means that your practical experience or activities abroad are not yet sufficient for you to start as an intern or consultant. Of course, you can re-apply. When we receive your repeated application, we will then check whether you have in the meantime expanded your qualifications. Your chances of receiving an invitation to Recruiting Day increase if you have completed a semester abroad, have done another internship or gained professional experience since your last application.
