Once there was a fool who was bald.
Some came along and hit his head with pears several times. Although the assaults caused the fool to bleed, he quietly tolerated it and made no attempt to protect himself.
Someone who witnessed the incident asked, "Why didn't you run away? Instead you stood still and let him hit you until your head bleeds."
The fool replied, "That man is swollen（浮腫的，浮夸的） with his strength, but he's quite foolish. When he saw my head is without hair, he thought it were a piece of rock. So he hit me with the pears. Bruising（擦傷） my head, that's all there is to it."
But the other man pointed out, "It's you who are a fool and yet you claim he is foolish. If you weren't so foolish, you wouldn't be hit by him and you wouldn't have had your head bruised and still not run away."
過(guò)去有一個(gè)愚人是個(gè)禿頭。
當(dāng)時(shí)有一個(gè)人，用梨打他的頭，打了兩三次，每一次都把他的頭打得受傷、破裂。這個(gè)愚人默默忍受，不知要躲避逃開。
旁邊的人看見了，就對(duì)他說(shuō)：“你為什么不躲開呢？竟然一動(dòng)不動(dòng)地挨打，以至于頭都被打破了。”
愚人回答說(shuō)：“像他那樣的人，驕橫傲慢，不過(guò)是憑借力氣而已，實(shí)際上他很愚蠢，沒(méi)有一點(diǎn)智慧，看見我頭上沒(méi)有毛發(fā)，便以為是石頭，所以就用梨來(lái)打我，于是我的頭才破成這個(gè)樣子。”
旁人說(shuō)道：“你自己很愚蠢，為什么反而說(shuō)他愚蠢呢？怎么會(huì)被他打得頭都破了，卻不知道躲開?！?
