GE Healthcare Government Relations Intern – Job Description
    Focus Areas:
    Track recent developments and provide updates on:
    1) Policy, Law and their trends in Health Reform, Public Hospital Reform, Hospital Management, Medical Device, Health Insurance, Government Procurement in Medical Device, National Science and Technology Plans, etc.
    2) Health Care Statistics, official or non-official.
    3) Government Relations. GR Team shall have clear understanding of the government structure and their specific functions, especially in Hospital management and administration area.
    4) Market Intelligence. This includes information collection in governmental or private investment in Health Industry, e.g. Provincial investment plans in Health industry, hospital construction, IT projects, Business competitors move, etc.
    5) Certain GEHC Project Follow-up.
    Daily Tasks
    1) Routine task
     Tracking. Tracking shall cover the above 1), 2), 3), and 4) of the GR Team focus. For national level news and policies, it is advised to be tracked at least twice/day while for local policies and news, at least twice/week.
     Database Building. Most tracking result can be put into a pool and turned into a database according to certain topic.
     Research. There will be certain projects that need large-scale research.
    2) Supporting task
    GR intern shall support the work of the GR team. The supporting task is mostly of the following nature.
     Research and analysis work
     External outreach (including information-gathering calls, meeting requests, etc.)
     PPT making.
     Excel template design.
     Meeting minute taking
    Required Qualifications:
    • Recent graduate (BA) or current graduate (MA, PhD) student in Medicine, Law, Public Health, Political Science, or other related field;
    • Able to work at least 4 days/week and for 6 months;
    • Strong research and analytical skills; ability to condense complex information in to usable, concise summaries;
    • Experienced in reading and analyzing government policy documents and/or laws and regulations;
    • Self-starter. Shows strong initiative and able to work independently;
    • Strong project management skills;
    • Proficient spoken and written English;
    • Previous experience in the healthcare industry would be an advantage;
    • Previous experience of interacting with government officials would be an advantage.
    The internship will hopefully start at the end of October 2011, and be subsidized according to your education level.
