諺語、習(xí)語

字號:

Jack: I can’t figure out the reason why some people can always succeed while others never seem to have the luck going for them.
Lucy: That’s because some are wise, others are otherwise.
Jack: But why should we often say that men are created equal?
Lucy: Yes, all men are equal, but some men are more equal than others.
    Jack: There’s actually no equality.
Lucy: No, besides, everything has two sides. A dark side and a bright side.
Jack: That reminds me of a proverb: Every bean has its black.
Lucy: That’s right. Successful people also have trouble and worries.
Jack: But they get more happiness than worries.
Lucy: Depends on how you look at them. They may think they have more worries than happiness, But happiness is in the mind.
Jack: I think it is true. One man’s meat is another man’s poison.
Lucy: That’s right. But there’s a general standard of happiness.
Jack: Can you give me some of the happiness you think?
Lucy: To start with, happiness consists in contentment.
Jack: So those who are content are happy?
Lucy: That’s right. And many people think that happy is he who owes nothing.
Jack: Of course. You can’t be happy if you owe much to other people.
Lucy: I don’t owe anything, so I am always happy.
