基 督 教 也 很 痛 恨 偽 善 行 為 。 《 圣 經(jīng) ． 以 賽 亞 書 》 就 批 評(píng) 一 些 偽 君 子 ， 說 他 們 叫 人 家 “ 你 站 開 吧 ， 不 要 挨 近 我 ， 因 為 我 比 你 圣 潔 ” (Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou)。 上 帝 說 這 些 偽 君 子 一 定 會(huì) 得 到 報(bào) 應(yīng) 的 。 上 文 holier than thou（ 比 你 圣 潔 ） 一 詞 ， 多 年 來 流 傳 人 口 ， 指 的 就 是 “ 偽 善 ” 或 “ 自 以 為 是 ” 。 Thou是 you的 古 代 說 法 ， 正 如 thyself是 yourself的 古 代 說 法 一 樣 。
Holier than thou也 可 以 寫 作 holier-than-thou， 例 如 ：
