I'm rather put out with Mary.
對話
Gwyneth: I'm rather put out with Mary.
Tina: Why's that?
Gwyneth: Well she promised to help me move into my new apartment on the weekend.
Tina: I didn't know you were moving.
Gwyneth: Yes, and I had quite a lot of stuff to move.
Tina: What happened?
Gwyneth: She let me down. She didn't turn up at all, so I had to shift everything myself.
Tina: I'm sorry to hear that. Perhaps she wasn't feeling well…
(1) When I learned that he had been speaking ill of me all the time, I naturally felt very put out with him. (2)Put out by his refusal to help, I did not speak to him.
She let me down. She didn't turn up at all。 In failing to get into college, you have let me down. Turn up則是‘出現(xiàn)’,另一說法是show up, 例如: He turned up/showed up just when he was needed.
She broke her word to me、She did not appear at all。I'm rather put out with Mary I am rather annoyed with Mary。
