生病的時(shí)候就需要看醫(yī)生，英文可以說(shuō)：I am going to see a doctor.(我要去看醫(yī)生)，一般全科執(zhí)業(yè)醫(yī)生叫General Practice，?？漆t(yī)生叫Specialist，中國(guó)人喜歡看中醫(yī)師，英文叫Traditional Chinese doctor，求診可到診所(Clinic)或醫(yī)院門診部(Outpatients department)。

Roy: But you look fine to me. Actually you've never looked better.
Marty: Maybe on the outside but inside my head is another story. The doctor I'm going to see is a psychiatrist. I believe I can fly. Up, up and away!

馬田病了，說(shuō)I am going to see a doctor.（我去看醫(yī)生）。 ‘去看醫(yī)生’，英文說(shuō)to go to a doctor或to go to a doctor's都可以，例如：I'm going to the doctor/the doctor's for a medical examination.（我要去找醫(yī)生做體檢）。Doctor's是doctor's clinic（醫(yī)生工作的診所）的縮略。你也可以說(shuō)：I'm going to the dentist/the dentist's.（我要去看牙醫(yī)）。
假如有人病得不能自己去看醫(yī)生，那么就要請(qǐng)醫(yī)生或救護(hù)車前來(lái)。你可以說(shuō)：Quick! Send for a doctor/an ambulance（快請(qǐng)醫(yī)生來(lái)/叫救護(hù)車來(lái)）。Send for即‘召喚’或‘派人請(qǐng)來(lái)’。
Doctor是對(duì)醫(yī)生最常用的稱呼，但其它稱呼也不可不識(shí)。Physician是比較舊式的叫法，成語(yǔ)Physician, heal yourself（醫(yī)生，請(qǐng)先治好自己吧）有‘先正己，后正人’的意思。全科醫(yī)生叫g(shù)eneral practitioner，簡(jiǎn)稱為GP，這些醫(yī)生一般都是家庭醫(yī)生，即family doctor。此外，?？漆t(yī)生叫specialist，外科醫(yī)生叫surgeon，牙醫(yī)則叫dentist。在英國(guó)，外科醫(yī)生、牙醫(yī)、獸醫(yī)等，一般不會(huì)稱為Dr，而會(huì)稱為Mr、Mrs、Miss等；但是，在美國(guó)，則一律叫Dr。
俚語(yǔ)叫醫(yī)生做pill-peddler/pill-pusher（販賣藥丸者）或vet（獸醫(yī)），這當(dāng)然有戲謔意味，例如：I've just seen my vet.（我剛剛看過(guò)醫(yī)生）。庸醫(yī)或江湖騙子叫quack或charlatan，例如：His confidence in a quack cost him his life.（他誤信庸醫(yī)，結(jié)果賠上性命）。
