未能關(guān)注題目中的關(guān)鍵詞
題目中的關(guān)鍵詞是寫命題作文的根本所在,如果在寫作中不能充分的回應(yīng)關(guān)鍵詞或者偏離了關(guān)鍵詞所設(shè)定的討論范圍,這篇文章就有偏題的風(fēng)險(xiǎn)。從e-rater的角度來講,我們寫的文章里的單詞會(huì)被轉(zhuǎn)換為向量和不同分?jǐn)?shù)的樣品文章所轉(zhuǎn)化的向量進(jìn)行比對(duì)然后決定屬于那一個(gè)檔次的文章。要想我們用的詞和高分文章用的詞相類似,一個(gè)基本的原則和策略便是要緊扣題目中的關(guān)鍵詞。以issue 57 為例: The main benefit of the study of history is to dispel the illusion that people living now are significantly different from people who lived in earlier times.
這里是某位同學(xué)寫的某一段的主題句:
Moreover, the study of history helps us to do even better in the future, and go forward becoming different from what we are today. 這段話的內(nèi)容主要是討論學(xué)習(xí)歷史的其他好處,但是作為統(tǒng)領(lǐng)全段的主題句并沒有明確的指出這段的目的就是討論其他的好處。
在argument也有類似的問題,主要是對(duì)argument的一些關(guān)鍵字眼不夠重視。
"In a laboratory study of liquid antibacterial hand soaps, a concentrated solution of UltraClean produced a 40 percent greater reduction in the bacteria population than did the liquid hand soaps currently used in our hospitals. During a subsequent test of UltraClean at our hospital in Workby, that hospital reported significantly fewer cases of patient infection than did any of the other hospitals in our group. Therefore, to prevent serious patient infections, we should supply UltraClean at all hand-washing stations throughout our hospital system.”
某同學(xué)寫的文章中沒有回應(yīng)文章中的serious這個(gè)關(guān)鍵詞。這可是ETS在argument中故意留下的破綻,如果這種破綻都視而不見,要拿高分就真的只能靠人品爆發(fā)這種小概率事件了。
