且看第一個(gè)句子：Working with a personal search agent means having another set of eyes looking on for you.這個(gè)句子中的動(dòng)詞也不止一個(gè)，work,mean和have, look on都是動(dòng)詞。但在細(xì)細(xì)辨認(rèn)之后，我們不難找出句子的重要?jiǎng)釉~是means，當(dāng)它作“意味著”這個(gè)意思講的時(shí)候，它是一個(gè)非實(shí)義動(dòng)詞，系動(dòng)詞，agent代理，代表。本句話的意思是“和一個(gè)私人的搜索代理合作，意味著……”Working with 此處是動(dòng)名詞作主語。由于means是謂語動(dòng)詞，也是系動(dòng)詞，所以having是動(dòng)名詞作賓語，也可稱為表語。本句意為“意味著有另外的一對眼睛為你尋找……”Working和having在本句中，是動(dòng)名詞分別充當(dāng)主語和表語?？傊覀円獣?huì)辨認(rèn)，重點(diǎn)是找到動(dòng)詞。
我們可以再看第二個(gè)句子：With thousands of career-related sites on the Internet,finding promising openings can be time-consuming and inefficient.這個(gè)句子雖然有些長，但是之前我們講過類似的句子所以可以知道，With thousands of career-related sites on the Internet,是with復(fù)合結(jié)構(gòu)做伴隨狀語，后面是一個(gè)句子，can be是重要?jiǎng)釉~，主語是finding promising openings,是動(dòng)名詞做主語，表語則是time-consuming and inefficient.Open原是動(dòng)詞，opening加s，既然能加s,則表示它是一個(gè)可數(shù)名詞，意為“開放的職位空缺”。那本句就可以采用順譯的方法，翻譯為“伴隨著成千上萬職業(yè)相關(guān)的網(wǎng)站出現(xiàn)，找到一個(gè)有前景的職位空缺可能是浪費(fèi)時(shí)間和十分低效的。”
