The subsidised fees for Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents shown are without GST which is separately subsidised by the Singapore Government. The subsidised fees for International Students and non-subsidised fees are inclusive of GST.
Tuition fees may change from year to year for each new incoming cohort. However, students enrolled in AY2017/18 will pay fixed fees throughout the normal duration of studies (4 years duration) i.e. this cohort will not be subjected to further fee increases during this period for the Regular Terms.
Current SMU students will not be affected by the AY 2017/18 fees as they will continue to pay the fees that applied to their respective cohort year.
AY 2017/18 entering freshmen who are not eligible for or choose not to apply for the Singapore Government Tuition Grant are required to pay the non-subsidised fees mentioned above.
National Servicemen, whose enrolment into university is delayed due to their national service obligations in Singapore will pay the relevant tuition fees in the year of application and offer.
Students who are Singapore Citizens (including those holding Government scholarships) are required to sign a Declaration for Tuition Grant Eligibility form to facilitate SMU's assessment of their eligibility for the Tuition Grant to be eligible for subsidised tuition fees. Students who are found not to be eligible for the Tuition Grant will be charged the non-subsidised tuition fees.
Permanent Residents and International Students who are eligible for and intend to take up the Tuition Grant must apply for the Tuition Grant Scheme. Those eligible must sign a Tuition Grant Agreement, which will require them to work in Singapore-based companies for 3 years upon graduation from SMU. Those who are not eligible, or choose not to apply for the grant, are required to pay the non-subsidised fees. The latter will not be bound by the 3-year work obligation.
