International Foundation Programme (IFP)
The International Foundation Programme has been specifically developed for International Students who want to study for an undergraduate/bachelor degree but who do not possess relevant qualifications equivalent to British A Levels. The course has an intake in September and January each year. You must be at least 18 years old to study this programme.
Students who are required to have a Tier 4 visa to study in the UK must present a Secure English Language Test for entry to the International Foundation Programme in accordance with UK immigration regulations. The minimum requirements are:
IELTS: 5.0 overall with no individual element less than 4.0

Undergraduate/Bachelor Degrees
For undergraduate/bachelor degree programmes, students with a qualification equivalent to a British school-leaving qualification (for example, A Levels) can be considered for direct entry on to the first year of a three or four-year course. If you are from a country where qualifications are not at this level then you may be required to undertake our International Foundation Programme.
Students are required to present a Secure English Language Test (or have their English language ability assessed by Edge Hill) to be granted a Tier 4 visa to study in the UK. The minimum requirements for undergraduate/bachelor study at Edge Hill are:

Undergraduate/Bachelor Transfer
Studies you have already undertaken in another country or in the UK may be considered for “credit exemption”. If so, it may be possible for you to enter into the second or third year of one of our undergraduate/bachelor degrees, providing you have covered the required modules in your previous studies.
Students are required to present a Secure English Language Test (or have their English language ability assessed by Edge Hill) to be granted a Tier 4 visa to study in the UK. The minimum requirements for undergraduate/bachelor study at Edge Hill are:

Pre-Masters Programme
For students who do not possess the equivalent of a UK honours degree, satisfactory completion of our one year Pre-Masters Programme provides a guaranteed entry route onto a range of our one-year full-time postgraduate courses.
Students are required to present a Secure English Language Test (or have their English language ability assessed by Edge Hill) to be granted a Tier 4 visa to study in the UK. The minimum requirements for Pre-Masters study at Edge Hill are:
IELTS: 5.5 overall with no individual element less than 5.5

Taught Postgraduate Degree
To gain entry on to a postgraduate certificate, diploma or masters course, you need an undergraduate/bachelors degree, normally with the equivalent of first or second-class honours in a relevant subject of equivalent standard to a UK undergraduate/bachelor degree.
Students are required to present a Secure English Language Test (or have their English language ability assessed by Edge Hill) to be granted a Tier 4 visa to study in the UK. The minimum requirements for postgraduate study at Edge Hill are:

Postgraduate Research Degree
To apply for postgraduate research (PhD, MPhil or MRes), you are expected to have a an upper second-class honours undergraduate/bachelor degree or equivalent and, in some cases, to have completed a Masters course. You must submit a research proposal and are advised to contact the relevant Faculty in advance to discuss your ideas in more detail before submitting an application.
Students are required to present a Secure English Language Test (or have their English language ability assessed by Edge Hill) to be granted a Tier 4 visa to study in the UK. The minimum requirements for PhD, MPhil or MRes study at Edge Hill are:
IELTS: 7.0 overall with no individual element less than 6.5

Due to changes in the UKV&I regulations only the below Secure English Language Tests (SELT) are accepted, for those taken after 6th April 2015.
Trinity College London (for customers applying in the UK only)
UK and Rest of World (ROW): IELTS SELT Consortia (for visa customers applying either outside or inside the UK)
If you have taken a Secure English Language Test (SELT) before 5th April 2015 there is currently a concession for these to be accepted up until the 5th November 2015. Please contact the International Office with your English Language Test for details.
If your current level of English is lower than our minimum requirement, you may still be offered a place on the course you have applied for with full attendance on one of our Pre-Sessional English Courses.

Students under 18 years old
Edge Hill University will occasionally admit students who are under the age of 18 in cases where there is a strong academic rationale for their acceptance. This will usually be a temporary situation as the student will be approaching their eighteenth birthday. The University is an adult environment and Edge Hill University treats all its students as independent, mature individuals. Any students who are under the age of 18 years will therefore be treated in the same way. The University does, however, recognise its duty of care towards students who are under the age of 18 and has established a policy and procedures for dealing with the admission of these applicants.
