How to apply
As a postgraduate student, you will be able to make an application for City's affiliated Halls once you have firmly accepted your course offer at City. Once you have firmly accepted your course offer you will be sent an email with a link to the application form generally within 48 hours. If you do not receive this email please get in contact with our office. Applications open on the 5th January 2017.
This email will be sent to your personal email address. Please ensure we have your correct email address on file. This course offer can be conditional or unconditional. However, if you are holding a conditional offer please ensure you read the cancellation policy for the hall you have been nominated for, in the event that you do not meet the entry requirements of the course.
Please note - it can take a few working days for your course application record to be updated to show your firm acceptance (if you have any concerns about your record being updated please contact your course office/department). Once it has been updated you will automatically be sent the invitation email the following morning. Please ensure you check your junk/spam folders if required. If you do not receive this email please contact our office immediately.

Arriving early
Your contract start date with your hall is fixed and it is not possible to move into your room before the date specified on the contract document issued by the housing provider. If you are planning on arriving earlier in London you can find information on temporary accommodation including local hostels and hotels in our private accommodation listings.

Arriving late
If you wish to move in after the contract has started, you are liable to pay rent from the official contract start date and not from the day that you move in. If you are planning on moving in after the contract start date, you will need to inform the hall of residence in advance so that they can ensure the room is held for you.

Collecting keys
The keys for your room or flat are available from 12:00 (midday) on the date of your arrival at your hall. You should collect the keys from the hall reception.

What to bring
nullYou will need to bring bath towels, tea towels, cutlery, crockery, pans & kitchen utensils and bed linen as these are not supplied in any of the halls of residence.
You may also bring your own television with you but please be advised that aerial signal reception in central London is not always consistent. You would also need to purchase a TV license which is not usually included in your weekly rent.

Get to know your neighbours
If you are living in a shared flat or in a hall with a shared kitchen, it is always a good idea to arrange a meeting with your neighbours so that you can start to get to know each other. If you live in a shared flat or have access to a shared kitchen, this is a good time to draw up a rota for cleaning. It may not be the most fun thing to do, but it is better to get this bit out of the way as this can be a source of conflict later on. Hall management staff will inspect the accommodation on a regular basis to ensure an acceptable standard of cleanliness is being maintained, and will take action to remedy the situation if they find that it is not.
熟悉你的鄰居

Get to know your area
So you've settled into your room, now it's time to enjoy living in central London! Good things to establish include how to get to City, where your nearest grocery store is, the location of the nearest post office and doctor, as well as working out your most useful night bus route for times when you may be out in the evening. Check TimeOut or other local newspapers to find out what's going on in your area.

Register with a doctor
All students, whether international or home, are strongly advised to register with a local GP (General Practitioner). Registration is free, and important in case you should ever need medical services during your studies, and thereby ensuring minimal disruption to both your study and leisure time.
Clerkenwell Medical Practice (CMP) is located close to the main campus and accepts City, University of London students, no matter where you live.
There is also a Health Centre within City that provides a nurse-led drop-in clinic for all students where you can get advice on a range of health issues including advice on minor illness and injury.
