Notes for 2017-2018 Fee Assessment
The Board of Governors has approved an increase to tuition fees for all programs and to ancillary fee for the 2017-2018 academic year - new fee rates have been posted.
U-Pass fee: Full Time students will be assessed a U-Pass (Universal Transit Pass) fee. The rate for 2017-2018 is $132.50 per Term (Fall & Winter).
Residence Fees: Effective for the 2017-2018 academic year, all residence charges will appear on your Aurora fee assessment. Residence fee deadlines will be noted and may be separate from tuition fee deadlines.
The Faculty of Health Sciences has introduced a Laboratory Fee of $150 to be assessed to all students registered in HEAL 4640, Mechanisms of Disease 3 (6 credit hours). This fee will be effective Fall 2016.
How Fees are Calculated
The calculation of tuition and other fees is dependent on the program in which you are enrolled
The assessment of tuition and other fees is initiated by registration
Tuition may be program-based, or per credit hour
You may be assessed Endowment Fees and/or Student Organization Fees based on the program in which you are enrolled
All students are assessed Student Services Fees and Technology Fees
Lab Fees are assessed for courses with a lab component
Courses with a Field Work component are assessed fees on a cost recovery basis for expenses related to Field Work
Tuition Fees are assessed by credit hour or as a program fee, depending on your program. In the case of per credit hour tuition, the per credit hour rate is that of the academic unit responsible for teaching the course.

Tuition includes Law Surcharge of $4,739.6 per year ($2,369.8 per term) for Full-Time students and $2,369.8 per year ($1,184.9 per term) for Half-Time students. Visiting law students are assessed $300.80/credit hour (domestic rate) or $735.19/credit hour (international rate).
Students are assessed $5,000 in the Summer Term preceding Year 3; this amount is applied against the Year 3 program fee.
Students in the Dental Hygiene degree completion program are assessed the program tuition fee for each of the first two terms. Students are assessed a Continuing Fee of $564.20 in each term of subsequent study.
Students who are taking courses offered by the College of Medicine but who are not in the UGME program will be assessed tuition at a rate of $157.15 per credit hour.

Student Organization Fees
All students who are registered in an on-campus course are assessed a flat UMSU fee regardless of course load (different rate for Bannatyne Campus students), plus a per credit hour or per term fee based on the academic unit in which you are enrolled.
