重慶慶大學(xué)是一所國家教育部直屬的、擁有研究生院，本科一專業(yè)涵蓋了理、也是國家“211工程”、文、經(jīng)、管、法、教育等學(xué)科門類的全國著名綜合性重點大學(xué)，和“985工程”重點建設(shè)大學(xué)。
At present，Chongqing University runs 24 colleges or faculties，plus the Graduate school，theCity College，the College of Continuing Education，the College of Networking Education.TheUniversity now has a total enrollment of 57472 students，including 1 962 Ph. D. degreecandidates，8 310 master degree candidates，27 093 undergraduates，793 high-professionstudents，88 overseas students and LO 156 students of adult education.

The university owns 15 mobile workstations for postdoctoral study，16 first-level programs，60secondary-level programs for doctoral study，182 programs for master's degree study as wellas:specialized master's degree programs，namely MBA，EMBA, MPA，master ofengineering，and 75 bachelor's degree programs.Chongqing University is in possession of 16state level key subjects and key construtted subjects under the state“Project 211”，34provincial or ministerial level key subjects. It has established 3 national teaching bases forfundamental courses and a national quality education base for college students，5 nationalkey labs and ministerial key labs，35 provincial key labs，and 93 labs of different specialties.
學(xué)校擁有博士后流動站15個，一級學(xué)科博士學(xué)位授權(quán)點16個，二級學(xué)科博士學(xué)位授權(quán)點60個，碩士學(xué)位授權(quán)點182個，MBA,EMBA,MPA、工程碩士、會計學(xué)碩士、高校教師和風(fēng)景園林專業(yè)學(xué)位授權(quán)點7個，本科專業(yè)75個。學(xué)校擁有國家重點學(xué)科及國家“211工程”重點建設(shè)學(xué)科16個;省部級重點學(xué)科34個;建有國家基礎(chǔ)課程教學(xué)基地和國家大學(xué)生文化素質(zhì)教育基地3個、國家重點實驗室、教育部重點實驗室5個，省級重點實驗室35個，其他各類專業(yè)實驗室93個。
Currently，the university has a total number of 5 834 faculty and staff memhers，among which2 623 are full-time teachers，10 members of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and theChinese Academy of Sciences(including academicians engaged from other institutions )，5members of the Subject Appraisal Team of the Degree Committee under the State Council，15titled the state-level middle-aged or young experts with distinguished contribution，274doctoral tutors，301 experts awarded the governmental allowance，9 specially appointedprofessor posts under the“Cheungkong Scholars Program"，over 420 full professors and nearly750 associate professors.
在職教職工5 834人，其中專f}教師2 623人，中國工程院院士及中國科一學(xué)院院士10人(含外聘兩院院士)，國務(wù)院學(xué)位委員會學(xué)科評議組成員5人，國家級有突出貢獻的中青年專家1}人，博士生導(dǎo)師274人，享受政府特殊津貼專家301人，設(shè)有“長江學(xué)者獎勵計劃”特聘教授崗位9個，教授420余人，副教授近750人。
Chongqing University covers a total area of 380 hectares( about 178 hectares)，with 1 .68million square meters of construction space. The university library is well equipped with modernfacilities of large scale，with a collection of 3. O1 million volumes，6 000 kinds of Chinese andforeign periodicals，and 370 000 volumes of Ebooks.

歷史變遷
1929 Chongqing University was founded.
1929年重慶大學(xué)創(chuàng)建。
1935 It was renamed Provincial Chongqing University.
1935年改為省立大學(xué)。
1942 It was renamed National Chongqing University
1942年改為國立大學(xué)。
2000 Chongqing University was merged with Chongqing Jianzhu University and ChongqingArchitectural College to form the current new Chongqing University.
2000年重慶大學(xué)、重慶建筑大學(xué)、重慶建筑高等?？茖W(xué)校合并組建成新的重慶大學(xué)。
