    美國(guó)大學(xué)一般都有自己的籃球代表隊(duì),各個(gè)大學(xué)之間也會(huì)定期舉辦規(guī)模宏大的籃球聯(lián)賽。根據(jù)美國(guó)教育部最新聲明,在籃球聯(lián)賽中除實(shí)際比分外,也會(huì)把學(xué)業(yè)成績(jī)考慮在內(nèi)。具體情況請(qǐng)看下文!
    Education Secretary Arne Duncan is a serious basketball player – co-captaining the Harvard varsity team and playing professionally, mostly in Australia — so it’s no surprise the department he leads likes to put a spotlight on academic performance among sports teams. The Education Department?published on its Homeroom blog a piece titled “A Different Approach to NCAA Bracketology,” which looks at which schools would come out on top if academic performance were considered for both men and women in the March Madness tournaments.

    The information used by the department comes from a new report by the Institute for Diversity and Ethics in Sport at the University of Central Florida called “Keeping Score When It Counts: Academic Progress/Graduation Success Rate Study of 2015 NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournament Teams.” The department said it built its brackets based on the team’s Academic Progress Rate as reported by the NCAA, and in cases of a tie, by first the Graduation Success Rate of their basketball team and then the overall Graduation Success Rates of their student-athletes.
    教育部的做法是參考了佛羅里達(dá)中心大學(xué)的一項(xiàng)新報(bào)告:“在籃球聯(lián)賽中考慮學(xué)業(yè)成績(jī)進(jìn)步率和畢業(yè)率”,此報(bào)告指明,若在比賽中出現(xiàn)比分持平的現(xiàn)象,那么學(xué)業(yè)成績(jī)進(jìn)步率和畢業(yè)率更高的學(xué)校就能領(lǐng)先。
    The Academic Progress Rate is a Division I metric developed to track the academic achievement of teams each academic term. Each student-athlete receiving athletically related financial aid earns one retention point for staying in school and one eligibility point for being academically eligible. A team’s total points are divided by points possible and then multiplied by one thousand to equal the team’s Academic Progress Rate score.
    學(xué)業(yè)進(jìn)步率通過(guò)記錄每隊(duì)在每學(xué)年學(xué)業(yè)成績(jī)狀況而反映各自的學(xué)業(yè)水平。每個(gè)學(xué)生運(yùn)動(dòng)員都能得到財(cái)政援助,前提是他們還在學(xué)校學(xué)習(xí),若成績(jī)優(yōu)異者所得獎(jiǎng)學(xué)金就越多。一個(gè)籃球隊(duì)的總分除比賽得分外,還有該隊(duì)學(xué)業(yè)成績(jī)的綜合分。
