The World Forest Day
In 1971, the Spanish naturalists suggested that we should set up a day to call on people to protect the forest and make the full use of it. Then the representatives of the naturalists from all over the world decided that March 21 is the world forest day. In some countries, this day is also deemed as the tree-planting day. After 4 decades, the world forest day is more than a day to call on people to protect the forest, making people realize the relations between human being and the forest is also the aim of the forest day.
It’s generally accepted that the forest has the functions of cooling off the global temperature, refreshing the air, preserving soil and water, protecting the nature links and so on. The forest is also the key to solve the severe environmental problems. In American Indian’s cultural, the local people believe that the forest raise up the sky. If the forest disappears, the sky will collapse, and the living beings would die out. With the rapid development of human society, the forest coverage rate is decrease. While the demands of the woods and papers products keep increasing. It can hardly meet the needs of human beings. Everyday, countless trees are cutting down to make various paper products. In order to make more money, people destroy the forests, and there comes different kinds of problems. For instance, soil erosion, global warming, glaciers melting, and sea level rising. The forest is so important to this planet. We should do something to protect the forest.
First, stop cutting down the forest blindly. If we really have to, plant more trees. Second, the government should do something to enhance the people’s awareness of forest protection. Last but not least, we can reduce the use of paper, such as avoid using disposable paper goods. Protect the forest is to protect ourselves. Without the forest, we can not live on the earth either.
The Negative Effect of Celebrity Worship
In our daily life, we are affected by the famous movie stars, popular singers and successful athletes everywhere. These images appear on the package of products, billboards and TV commercial ads, in a word, we contact with the celebrities all the time. People admire the celebrity’s success, they adore them, want to be one of them, sometimes they overreact on the process of pursuing stars.
The negative effect of celebrity worship is that the fans will get mental and physical problem. Because of the fast development of technology, many stars present perfect outlooks on the TV, actually, even their beautiful pictures are being revised. What fans see is the fake phenomenon, they want to look perfect as their idols, so they take all the costs to look like the stars. When they realize there is no way can do this, they will break down, getting hurt mentally and physically.
Some crazy fans like to college all the things about their idols. No matter what it is, as long as it is about the stars, fans will buy it, even to compete for it. What’s more, the things they college is useless, they just waste money on it. Such behavior should be criticized, the fans should put the money on the meaningful thing.
Anyway, celebrity worship should be wise, people must clear out what they should do and what should not do.
Plan Carefully or Plan Nothing at All?
In this fast-changing society, our free time is very precious to all of us. It is important for us to take some time to refresh ourselves and prepare for the challenges in front us. Some people prefer to plan everything very carefully at their free time, because they want to live the most of life; while the others choose not to make any plans at all. Well, in my opinion, both thought have their advantages.
On one hand, people who plan everything carefully can avoid wasting too much time on making decisions. If one makes plan in advance, he will have more free time to do the things he wants to. For instance, if he plans to see a movie this Sunday, he will buy a ticket on Tuesday. If he buys a ticket before the movie begins, he probably won’t get any tickets. Then his plan will fail. Therefore, being prepared carefully can avoid you plans fail, to a large extend. It’s not only save your precious time but also ensure your mood is not being disturbed by unexpected surprises.
On the other hand, plan nothing at all also has its own advantages. The non-planers can change their mind at the last minute without worrying offends anybody, because they do not make any commitment to anybody. What’s more, not everything we plan will come out exactly the way we want to be. Sometimes, it’s really hard to finish all the works before deadlines. Without plans, we can enjoy more freedom and less pressure.
To sum up, both planned and unplanned have their own benefits. I still prefer to plan things carefully. My time is limited, so I want to make the best use of it. By planning in advance, I can do the things I want and see the people I want to see. If something unexpected happen, I can replace my former plan with Plan B.
