I have just moved to a house in Bridge Street.
Yesterday, a beggar knocked at my door.
He asked me for a meal and a glass of beer.
In return for this, the beggar stood on his head and sang songs.
I gave him a meal. He ate the food and drank the beer.
Then he put a piece of cheese in his pocket and went away.
Later, a neighbour told me about him.
Everybody knows him.
His name is Percy Buttons.
He calls at every house in the street once a month, and always asks for a meal and a glass of beer.

Last year, I moved to a house with a very small garden.
It's in the city, so it has buildings all around it.
On two sides, the buildings are six floors high.
On the other two sides, there are pretty houses, with little gardens like mine.
My neighbours and I have made a green space there between the tall buildings, away from the traffic.
We've planted small trees and flowers and some untidy green places for the birds.
I've painted the walls with white paint, and put in a big mirror.
The garden's much lighter now.
Yesterday morning, I was sitting in the kitchen,
watching the garden and drinking my morning tea.
My first visitor was a blackbird.
I know this blackbird.
I always put seeds out for her.
The blackbird looked around carefully for a moment，
and then she ate a few seeds.
Suddenly, she saw the mirror.
There was another blackbird there!
She flew at the mirror fiercely, and the bird in the mirror flew at her.
She flew at the mirror again, and again, the bird in the mirror flew at her!
This happened nine times.
At last, she stood in front of the mirror and stared angrily at her reflection.
Then, she turned away from the mirror.
She flew back to the seeds and began to eat.
Then she flew away.
