The Lantern Festival, also known as ShangyuanFestival, is celebrated on January 15th on Chineselunar calendar.It is the first full moon night inChinese lunar year, symbolizing the coming back ofthe spring.The Lantern Festival is deemed as a goodday for family get-together.According to the custom of China, people on that night will carrynice lanterns and go out to appreciate the moon, light fireworks, guess lantern riddles, and eatsweet dumplings to celebrate the festival.Some places even have folk performances such asplaying dragon lanterns, lion dance and stilt walking. The Lantern Festival, an importanttraditional Chinese festival which has been in existence for over 2,000 years, is still verypopular in China, even overseas.And any place in which Chinese people live will experiencebusy activities on that day.
