高考英語詞匯詳解：cut短語用法
    1 . cut sb sth 為某人切某物。如：
    Cut me some pineapple. 給我切幾片菠蘿吧。
    He cut me a slice of bread. 他為我切了一塊面包。
    注：該句型也可轉換為：
    Cut some pineapple for me.
    He cut a slice of bread for me.
    2 . cut sth into sth 把某物切成某物。如：
    First cut the meat into small pieces. 先把肉切成小塊。
    He cut the apple into halves. 他把它切成了兩半。
    注：若指分為兩半，可說成 cut sth into halves 或 cut sth in half。
    3 . cut down 砍倒。如：
    They cut down the big tree. 他們把這棵大樹砍倒了。
    削減，壓縮，縮減。如：
    Expenses ought to be cut down in every way. 應該在一切方面減少開支。
    You’d better cut the article down to about 2,000 words. 你能把這篇文章壓到兩千字左右。
    4 . cut in 插入，插話。如：
    Don’t cut in when others are talking. 別人說話時別插話。
    He kept cutting in on our conversation. 我們談話時他老是插話。
    注：cut in on sth 有時可說成 cut into sth, 如上面第二句也可說成：
    He kept cutting into our conversation.
    插隊，超車。如：
    He cut in at the head of the line. 他在隊伍的前面插隊。
    The car overtook me and then cut in on me. 那輛小車超了我的車，然后插在我前面。
    5 . cut off 切斷，隔斷，斷絕。如：
    We were cut off in the middle of our telephone conversation. 我們在電話里談話談了一半就被切斷了。
    The flood cut the villagers off from the rest of the world. 洪水切斷了村民們與外界的聯(lián)系。
    6 . cut out 剪成，戒掉。如：
    I must cut out smoking. 我必須戒煙。
    The rain and wind have cut out a deep valley. 風雨侵蝕出了一條深谷。
