Ⅰ. mend “修理、修補(bǔ)”。普通用語(yǔ)。指對(duì)由于穿戴或使用等原因而破爛或破損的東西加以修補(bǔ)或修理。如：
① There’s a hole in your shirt. Better mend it right away. 你的襯衫上有一個(gè)洞，馬上補(bǔ)一補(bǔ)。
② The broken window requires to be mended. 這扇破窗戶需要修理。
Ⅱ. repair “修理、修補(bǔ)”。常與mend換用。但當(dāng)需要修理之物，由于使用或年代等原因已經(jīng)損壞，修起來(lái)比較復(fù)雜時(shí)，多用repair. 如：
① They have repaired the car. 他們已把汽車修好了。
② It will take all the summer to repair the house. 需要整個(gè)夏天才能把房子修好。
