    look up the dictionary
    漢語中的“查字典”,說成英語通常是 look up sth in a dictionary 或 consult [refer to] a dictionary。如:
    I refer to the dictionary frequently. 我經(jīng)常查閱詞典。
    You can look the word up in the dictionary. 你可以在詞典里查這個詞。
    He often consulted a dictionary when he read the book. 他讀這本書時經(jīng)常查字典。
    I looked the word up in the dictionary to refresh my memory of its exact meaning. 我查了詞典,以便弄清這個詞的準(zhǔn)確意思。
    I often look up the words I don’t know in the dictionary or on the Internet. 我經(jīng)常在字典里或網(wǎng)上查找我不認(rèn)識的單詞。

    1)starve作不及物動詞,表示“挨餓”。starve for=be starve of/for,表示“渴望獲得,迫切得到”。
    2)plenty 作不可數(shù)名詞,只用于肯定句中,表示“充足,大量,富?!?,可做主語,賓語或表語。 做主語時,謂語動詞隨著plenty所指的單復(fù)數(shù)形式作相應(yīng)的變化。 plenty也可作副詞,表示“充分地,十足地,好多”。 in plenty表示“大量的,豐富,充?!笨勺鞅碚Z,定語,狀語。
    3)satisfy 作及物動詞,表示“滿意,使?jié)M足”,直接跟賓語,若接that從句時,意思是“使相信”,從句前有間接賓語。 satisfy?with以XX滿足 be satisfied with對XX滿足 satisfy?for向XX償還 be satisfied to do sth滿足于做某事
    4)harm 作名詞,意為“損害”,不與不定冠詞連用,常與do,come,mean等動詞搭配。 do more harm than good弊大于利 There’s no harm in(sb’s)doing sth=It does no harm for sb to do sth做某事無害處 作及物動詞,表示“損害,傷害”。
    5)trick:play a trick on sb=play sb a trick開某人的玩笑 do/turn the trick達(dá)到(預(yù)期的)目的,獲得成功。 
    6)memory是名詞,表示“記憶”時,接for而不接of。 復(fù)數(shù)形式memories可表示往事。 in memory of紀(jì)念,一般表示對死者的紀(jì)念。 lose one’s memory“失去記憶”,可能永遠(yuǎn)也想不起來;而slip sb’s memory指一般想不起來,可能不知道什么時候又想起。
    7)admire作及物動詞,只能接名詞或者代詞作賓語,不能接賓語從句。admire to do高興做 admire sb for sth在某方面欽佩某人 admire at對XX感到羨慕,對XX感到驚訝
    8)look forward to盼望,期待 push one’s way forward擠著向前走 come forward走出來 put forward提出 backward and forward來回。
