教材分析（The Analysis of the Teaching Materials）：
本課是第七單元的第1課，是一篇閱讀課。通過一篇有關(guān)于維京人如何發(fā)現(xiàn)北美大陸的文章，讓學生們溫習，了解有關(guān)于維京人當時生活狀態(tài)和探險經(jīng)歷的歷史知識，感受和學習探險者的精神。本課旨在培養(yǎng)學生在文章中獲取細節(jié)信息的閱讀能力。
本課語法是由where, when, why等關(guān)系副詞引導的定語從句以及介詞加which，whom等的定語從句。因為在上學期的第六單元，學生們已經(jīng)學習了由who，whom，whose，which，that引導的定語從句，對定語從句的特點，用法有了一定的了解，這為本課進一步學習定語從句奠定了基礎。本課要求學生能為定語從句選擇恰當?shù)囊龑г~并能在語境中應用定語從句。
本課計劃按兩個課時完成，第一課時的重點是完成閱讀文章，學生要學習課文種出現(xiàn)的新單詞，練習從文章中提取細節(jié)信息的能力，并能夠根據(jù)文章中的信息簡述早期維京人航海的有關(guān)情況；第二課時學習由where，when，why引導的定語從句以及由介詞加which，whom的定語從句，從識別關(guān)系詞到選擇關(guān)系詞，后要求學生能自己使用恰當?shù)年P(guān)系詞來組成定語從句，并在語境中應用。 教學內(nèi)容（Teaching Content）
