DIALOG 26
    BARRY IS UNUSUAL
    1--Have you met Barry?
    2--I think so, but I don’t remember what he looks like.
    1--He’s a most unusual person.
    2--What do you mean by unusual?
    3--You’ll understand when you see him.
    2--You mean it’s his physical appearance?
    1--Not exactly. There’s a certain way that he has of speaking and choosing his words that’s unique.But that’s not what I’m talking about.
    3--That’s part of it. But it goes beyond speech. I guess it’s what some people call "charisma".
    2--Oh, that. Now I know what you’re talking about.I’m just full of it!
    1--Ha,ha.Big joke!
    ===================================
    注解:
    1)most=very常用來加強語氣。如:It’s most kind of you!/He thanked her for a most enjoyable party./It’s most dangerous to drive drunk.
    2)There’s a certain way...unique:此句中的兩個that
    從句都是way的定語從句。第一個從句說:he has a certain way of speaking and choosing his words。第二個從句說 his way is unique.unique:獨特的;獨一無二的。
    3)go beyond speech:難于用語言表達(dá)。類似的短語有:beyond words/beyond expression/beyond description
    4)charisma:超凡的魅力,神授的能力。
    DIALOG 27
    HOWARD LOST HIS CAR
    1--Did you hear about what happened to Howard?
    2--No, what?
    1--Someone stole his car!
    2--Really? When did it happen?
    1--Last night. He left it parked in front of his girl friend’s house and when he came out to go home, it was gone.
    2--Wow! That’s really tough. He just bought it last month, didn’t he?
    1--Uh-huh. Fortunately, he’s got insurance and the police think they already have a good lead.
    2--Well, I certainly wish him luck.
    ===================================
    注解:
    1)left it parked:parked是賓語補足語。park 停放(車輛)。如:He parked his car over there.停車場叫parking lot/parking place/parking area等。
    2)it was gone=it disappeared/it was missing
    3)That’s really tough:(口語)不幸的,不愉快的。
    4)fortunately:幸運的,幸虧。
    5)lead:線索。
    6)wish him luck:wish表示祝愿,其后接雙賓語。
