Chinese online streaming site iQiyi has struck a deal with the producers behind hit TV drama "Nirvana in Fire(瑯琊榜)" to exclusively broadcast the show's second season.
The news was announced at the China Online Drama Forum（中國網(wǎng)絡(luò)劇發(fā)展高峰論壇） which was held in Beijing over the weekend.
"Nirvana in Fire 2" will be an online drama with a premiere date set in 2017.
According to the show's producer Hou Hongliang, the exclusivity deal was a direct result of iQiyi's role in popularizing the show.
It's not clear at the moment if the cast will return to reprise their roles in the first season.
"Nirvana in Fire" gained huge fandom last year, with online comments crediting it as the best TV show in 2015.
It's not the first time iQiyi has promoted its platform by offering access to an entire season of a new show to paid VIP members.
The most recent success for the site was the exclusive broadcasting rights of South Korean TV drama "Descendants of the Sun".
In addition to "Nirvana in Fire", iQiyi has also announced other eight other productions for 2017.
