演講原文是:
    There is a poem from the Southern Song Dynasty that reads: “After endless mountains and rivers that leave doubt whether there is a path out, suddenly one encounters the shade of a willow, bright flowers and a lovely village.”
    這里“山重水復(fù)”可以簡單說成endless mountains and rivers,而“疑無路”這三個(gè)字可以說是比較難翻譯的一個(gè)地方,上文的譯本中作了一個(gè)主語的轉(zhuǎn)換,將“懷疑”的主語人省去了,用leave doubt that這個(gè)詞組來表示,就使得譯文簡化了很多,不然一定要添譯進(jìn)去一個(gè)“人”的主體,譯文很可能就比較冗長:After trudging through endless mountains and rivers,one might begin to doubt whether there is a path out。
    同樣,“柳暗花明又一村”這一句也簡化成了三個(gè)意象:willow,flower,village。
    詩詞的翻譯需要主動(dòng)學(xué)習(xí)研究與平時(shí)積累兩方面雙管齊下。不少國外政要來華演講時(shí)都喜歡引用中國的古詩詞或者典故,這就是我們做資料收集的一個(gè)很好來源。

    南宋時(shí)期的一首詩寫道,山窮水盡疑無路,柳暗花明又一村?,F(xiàn)在我們最終來到我們可愛的村莊,我感到非常高興。
    This was a real team effort, a partnership that brought together our government, the private sector, the Chinese-American community, and so many friends and supporters. So, let me offer a few thank-yous.
