1、 A pound too dear
一鎊不值。。
可以用…too dear來表示什么事物并不值得如此大花精力，錢財。。
2、 It was difficult not to be tempted.
要想不為這些東西所動心是很困難的。
說想要可以說 want to/ intend to/desire/ 還有 tempted。。這個從另一個方面說明貨品的誘人。。而前面一些可能更加主觀的感情因素比較多。
3、 I had nosooner got off the ship than I wasassailed by a man who wanted to sell me a diamond ring.
我剛下船，就被一個人截住，他向我兜售一枚鉆石戒指。
