句中 we will be late…是一個(gè)賓語(yǔ)從句，作動(dòng)詞 tell的賓語(yǔ)。
這個(gè)賓語(yǔ)從句省略了引導(dǎo)詞that。late表示“遲到”的意思時(shí)通常作表語(yǔ)，與for連用。
