Lady: I’m afraid this green dress is too small for me as well. It’s smaller than the blue one.

Lady: I don’t like the colour either. It doesn’t suit me at all. I think the blue dress is prettier.

1 madam，是對婦女的一種尊稱，服務行業(yè)的人員常用此稱呼;同時，對于不知姓名的女士也可以用此來表示尊重。這個單詞也可拼作ma'am /maem/.
2 Would you like...?你愿意…嗎?用來表示委婉的請求或提議。
3 It's smaller than the blue one.它比那套藍色的小一些。
在英文中，當我們把一個人或物與另一個人或物進行比較時，就要用形容詞的比較級。大多數(shù)單音節(jié)的形容詞的比較級是在原級后面加上-er，如small-smaller, large-larger;有些以-y結(jié)尾的雙音節(jié)形容詞如果-y前面是一個輔音字母，變比較級時就要把-y先變?yōu)?i，然后再加一er，如pretty-prettier。
如果在句子中提到了對比的雙方，就必須在比較級后面加上than，如It's smaller than the blue one。
如果形容詞比較級所指很清楚，比較級也可以獨立存在，如I haven't got a larger dress。

用在表示請求，比Can you . . .?更婉轉(zhuǎn)客氣。
例:Could you tell me the way to the post office?
