holiday travel節(jié)日旅行
It's hard to avoid traveling over the holidays but the experience I had last week really takes the cake.

I flew back to Tucson, Arizona, to be with my wife's family, as we do every Christmas.
上周我飛回亞利桑那州塔克森去我妻子家過圣誕，我們每年都如此。
I got to the airport an hour and a half before my flight, which I thought would be plenty of time.
我在起飛前一個(gè)半小時(shí)就到了機(jī)場(chǎng)，我想時(shí)間應(yīng)該足夠了。
When I got there, though, I saw that the security line was out the door.
可要到那一看，安檢處排隊(duì)都排到門外了。
Because it was the holidays, people were traveling with a lot of extra packages.
因?yàn)槭枪?jié)日，旅客們帶著很多行李。
It took twice as long as it normally would to get to the front of the line.
排到柜臺(tái)前比平時(shí)需要多一倍的時(shí)間。
When I finally got to the gate, I found out that my flight had been oversold.
好容易我排到門前，我才發(fā)現(xiàn)我的航班超售了機(jī)票。
The gate agent was looking for people to voluntarily give up their seats for a later flight in exchange for a $100 travel voucher.
機(jī)場(chǎng)工作人員倡議是否有旅客自愿接受晚一點(diǎn)的航班，作為交換他們將得到價(jià)值100美金的旅行優(yōu)惠卷。
If she didn't get enough volunteers, she would have to bump people from the flight.
如果她找不到足夠多的志愿放棄者，他們將不得不將有的旅客勸下飛機(jī)。
Luckily, several people took her up on the offer and the rest of us boarded.
幸運(yùn)的是，有幾個(gè)旅客接受了這個(gè)，余下的人登機(jī)了。
What a hassle!
