dead duck相當(dāng)于我們漢語中的“必死無疑、死路一條”。說起來更像上海話里面“死蟹一只”，覺得沒有？但為什么在英文里面是鴨子呢？據(jù)說這是從一條特古老的諺語來的，never waste powder on a dead duck——感覺和Don't cry over spilt milk很相似哦。
還記得上次說的have one's ducks in a row么？都是和鴨子有關(guān)的，顯然是編劇的精心設(shè)置。不過就給翻譯上帶來了小小困難，咱要只追求翻出意思來，那就會失去語言上的幽默感；但如果直譯又會覺得很奇怪。所以就不妨換一個意象吧。這里是用了棋子的比喻，把三個用到鴨子的地方都替掉了。
