    一、句型介紹
    這兩個(gè)句型是If it weren’t for…和If it hadn’t been for…，這是兩個(gè)很常用的虛擬語(yǔ)氣句型，也經(jīng)常受到命題人的青睞，其意為“若不是(有)”“要不是有”。如：
    If it weren’t for water, no plant could grow. 要是沒(méi)有水植物就無(wú)法生長(zhǎng)。
    You wouldn’t be anywhere if it weren’t for Ruth. 若不是有魯思你不會(huì)有任何成就。
    If it hadn’t been for the doctor, he would have died. 要不是醫(yī)生救了他，他就會(huì)死了。
    If it hadn’t been for Mary, I might not have understood. 要不是有瑪麗，我可能還不理解。
    二、與but for, without等替換
    這兩個(gè)句型有時(shí)可用but for, without等替換。如：
    要不是有你幫忙，我們是不會(huì)成功的。
    If it hadn’t been for your assistance we wouldn’t have succeeded.
    =But for your assistance we wouldn’t have succeeded.
    =Without your assistance we wouldn’t have succeeded.
    三、時(shí)間上的同與異
    原則上說(shuō)，if it weren’t [wasn’t] for 用于談?wù)摤F(xiàn)在的情況，而if it hadn’t been for 用于談?wù)撨^(guò)去的情況。但實(shí)際上if it weren’t [wasn’t] for有時(shí)也可用于談?wù)撨^(guò)去的情況：
    If it weren’t for their help, we couldn’t have got over the difficulties. 要不是他們幫助，這些困難我們是克服不了的。
