1. Take the one-way street.
走這條單行道。
One-way street就是單行道。尤其在Downtown地區(qū)，以亞特蘭大和紐奧良為例，其復(fù)雜的程度可以用進(jìn)的去，出不來(lái)來(lái)形容，實(shí)在不是個(gè)愉快的開車經(jīng)驗(yàn)。
2. You will stay on the street for a while until you hit the first traffic light.
你會(huì)走一會(huì)兒，直到你遇到第一個(gè)紅綠燈。
Stay for a while 通常指五到十分鐘的時(shí)間，不會(huì)太久。遇見某樣?xùn)|西，可以用hit 這個(gè)字，如hit the traffic light, hit the stop sign 等等。而traffic light 也有人說成light，或stoplight。
3. Then take a left.
向左轉(zhuǎn)。
向左轉(zhuǎn)可以說成turn left，take a left 或是Make a left。有時(shí)光講take a left 不明確，你可以加上路名，明確地告訴人家要轉(zhuǎn)哪一條路，例如Take a left into Hemphill Ave。或是Take a left onto Hemphill Ave。
4. It will be Hemphill Ave. It’s two-lane traffic.
那就會(huì)是Hemphill Ave，它是一條雙線道。
指路的時(shí)候如果能夠說出街道名稱是，所以通常我會(huì)把轉(zhuǎn)到哪一條路的路名也指出來(lái)。至于是幾線道一般指路的時(shí)候則比較不會(huì)提及。雙線道是指來(lái)去各一個(gè)車道共二線道而言，四線道就是four-lane traffic。像亞特蘭大的Interstate Highway 有些地方都是十二線道，那就是twelve-lane traffic 夠驚人吧。

由Hemphill 街往下走約五個(gè)街區(qū)。
英文這個(gè)部份跟中文有異曲同工之妙，我們會(huì)習(xí)慣地說，往"下" 走，英文也會(huì)說come "down" 或是get "down"，這里如果只說Come Hemphill Ave聽來(lái)是不是怪怪的？至于block 指的是一塊一塊的建筑，外國(guó)人在指路時(shí)很喜歡用block 作為計(jì)量的單位。
6. You will see a BP gas station on your left.
在你的左手邊你會(huì)看到一座BP加油站。
指路的時(shí)候除了路名之外，明顯的地標(biāo)也是有幫助的。通常你可以指出一些明顯的建筑物或是加油站來(lái)幫助對(duì)方。加油站的英文是gas station，有時(shí)會(huì)簡(jiǎn)稱station。
7. Keep going 50 yards before you come to a fork road.
繼續(xù)走50碼，直到你走到一個(gè)三叉路口。
繼續(xù)往下走可以用keep going這個(gè)字，或是continue straight 或是keep straight也很常用。Fork road就是我們說的三叉路口。那如果是丁字路口要怎么說？你可以說，This road will dead end into 10th Street. 就可以表達(dá)出丁字路口的意思了。
8. Make a right, pass two stop signs and you will run into a Wal Mart.
向右轉(zhuǎn)，經(jīng)過兩個(gè)Stop sign，你就會(huì)遇到Wal Mart。
老美喜歡說You’ll run into it! 意思就是，你會(huì)遇到的。You can’t miss it! 就是說，你絕不會(huì)錯(cuò)過的。
9. The post office is just right across the street of it.
郵局就在Wal Mart的正對(duì)面。
Right across the street of it 是個(gè)很重要的短語(yǔ)，加上"right" across 表示出"正" 對(duì)面的意思。還有一個(gè)很常用的就是在什么什么的旁邊，這個(gè)要用The office is next to it. It 代表之前已經(jīng)提過的Wal Mart，如果之前沒有提及，這里也可以直接說成，across the street of Wal Mart。
10. Mr. Yang’s house is behind the post office.
楊先生的房子就在郵局后面。
