Automation Development Engineer
Position Summary
The Automation Development Engineer is an entry level engineer who designs, develops, tests, troubleshoots and maintains automation software or automation test cases for existing or new products. The Automation Development Engineer works within a team who are responsible for analyzing test requirements and utilizing automation technologies to automate test environment construction, performance tests, scalability and load tests, functional and regression tests, and/or are responsible for developing/maintaining the automation framework/platform.
Primary Responsibilities
Under general guidance, performs technical work requiring application of basic software development methodologies to complete assignments to required standards of quality and timeliness; implements designs with some guidance and supervision; delivers quality work product while gaining experience and knowledge in specific area of assignment
Evaluate feasibility of automation by reviewing test requirement documentation and evaluating ROI
Development of new or extend existing automated scripts to verify the functionality, accuracy and efficiency of developed or enhanced software products across various platforms
Create automated tests using good design principles and present automation execution results in a format that is easy to interpret
Applies the company’s software engineering processes and standards
Establishes and maintains thorough and accurate documentation of all work
Support and troubleshoot automation issues raised by end users
Coordinates own development activities on routine work and cooperates with other test and dev team members on technical aspects related to the project
Engages in continuous learning both on the job and through technical training in order to expand and enhance technical expertise and competency and keep pace with technology advancements
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer science, electrical engineering, or related field; equivalent experience may be substituted for formal education;
Demonstrated understanding of Computer Science fundamentals (e.g., algorithms, data structures);
Understanding of basic software lifecycle process, test process and automated test processes.
Knowledge of one or more object oriented languages (e.g., C++, C# or Java), and one or more scripting languages (e.g., Power Shell, Python, Unix shell, PERL, Java script); knowledge of OOAD principles and methodologies (e.g., UML), networking and OS concepts
Good knowledge of Windows and Linux OS;
Good understanding of web based software/protocols and database concepts
Knowledge of Internet technologies (e.g., HTML, XML, TCP/IP)
Demonstrated capability for solving problems across multiple sub‐disciplines of software engineering; proven capability for finding solutions to algorithm and programming problems, developing solutions, and finding defects in software
