英語日記的格式與漢語相同。在正文上方自左起頂格寫上日期、星期幾和天氣情況。正文另起一行，內容應有所選擇，記有意義、感受最深的事，切忌流水賬。有話則長，無話則短，甚至三言兩語亦可。通常采用一般過去時或可靈活運用。日記的寫作格式如下：

月份除May, June, July外，其余可用縮寫形式。常用來表示天氣的詞有Fine, Cloudy, Rainy, Windy, Snow等。

It was raining outside when I got up early in the morning. It's too bad, I had to go to school by bus. I said to myself. It was almost seven o'clock before I left home. I got on the bus immediately, hoping it was possible for me to take a seat. I saw an empty seat and took it. But I found an old lady standing behind me.
