The Attributive Clause定 語 從 句
一、定義：用來修飾名詞或代詞的句子叫做定語從句
被修飾的名詞、詞組或代詞稱為先行詞；
二、關(guān)系詞和先行詞的關(guān)系：
關(guān)系詞和先行詞密切相關(guān)，因為關(guān)系詞用來指代先行
詞，并且在從句中充當(dāng)一定的成分。常用的關(guān)系詞有：
關(guān)系代詞：who / whom (先行詞表示人)
which (先行詞表示物)
that / whose (先行詞表示人或物)
關(guān)系代詞在從句中可充當(dāng)主語，賓語或定語；
可以和介詞連用的關(guān)系代詞：whom, which
關(guān)系副詞： when=on+which (表示時間)
where =in+which(表示地點)
why=for+which(表示原因)
注意：關(guān)系副詞在從句中充當(dāng)狀語。
三．按關(guān)系詞種類再學(xué)習(xí)
1．由that引導(dǎo)的定語從句
一般情況下that可指人或物，可以代替who，whom和which，但不能置于介詞之后，如不能用in that, 只能是 in which。如：The letter that（which）I received yesterday was from my father．
2．由who，whom和whose引導(dǎo)的定語從句
who在從句中作主語,有時也可以代替whom做賓語；whom在從句中作賓語；whose在從句中作定語。如：
1） This is the thief who stole my bike．
2）He is the boy whom you wanted to find．
3） The girl whose mother is a doctor is waiting for you outside．3．由which引導(dǎo)的定語從句
which指物，在從句中作主語或作謂語動詞的賓語。如：
1)The book which Mum bought me last week is very good.
2) The house which was built last year belongs to them.
4．由where，when和why引導(dǎo)的定語從句
where在從句中作地點狀語，when在從句中作時間狀語，why在從句中作原因狀語。如：
1) I will never forget the day when ( on which ) I joined the League．
2) He will go back to the school where (in which ) he studied next week．
3)I don't know the reason why (for which) he quarreled with Zhang Lin．
四．注意點
(1）關(guān)系代詞在定語從句中作賓語時，關(guān)系代詞常省去。
如：The play（which）I watched just now had been on twice on Channel 3.
(2) 當(dāng)定語從句中含有介詞，介詞放在句末時，who， that， which可省略，但介詞在關(guān)系代詞前時，只能用“介詞+which/whom”結(jié)構(gòu)。
如：This is the house (that/ which )we lived in last year.= This is the house in which we lived last year.
(3)關(guān)系代詞在定語從句中作主語時，從句謂語動詞的人稱和數(shù)要和先行詞保持一致。
例如：The boys who are playing football are from Class One.
(4)注意定于從句中，先行詞與關(guān)系代詞可合成what 的用法 ：
Please tell me what you said just now. = Please tell me the things that you said just now.
He showed me what he had written. = He showed me the things that he had written.
可以看到部分定語從句中，先行詞+關(guān)系詞 可以換作what。
