“Fight! Fight!”
I turned away form the scene. Another afternoon street hockey game was spoiled. The other players and I held our sticks and waited. The two guys fighting were friends—most of the time. But sports made them really competitive. These guys had a lot of foolish pride. Their tempers often led to arguments. At times like this, I wished I had different friends.
When I was in high school, I often made this wish. Some of my “friends” had bad qualities. They were moody and used a lot of bad language. They were “too cool” to join in most school activities. Some days they would be relaxed and happy. Other days they would be cold and rude.
