Danxia Mountain
Ladies and gentlemen, good momingl It is my pleasure to be your guide as you visit one of Guang- dong's most famous scenic spots, Danxia Mountain. I will begin by giving you a brief introduction to Danxia Mountain.
Danxia Mountain, which is located approx-imately 9 kilometers south of Renhua County, is 56 kilometers away from the Shaoguan urban district. It is the most famous of Guangdong's four well-known mountains and was designated a national scenic area by the State Council in 1988. This prominent peak's elevation is 409 meters, so compared to other famous mountains, it is not very high or very big. However, Danxia Mountain combines Mt. Huang's fantasy, Mt. Hua's steepness and ruggedness, and the beauty of Guilin's karst hills. It is thus wonderful, dangerous and beautiful. The mountain's scenery differs at its upper, middle and lower elevations the summit, there are three peaks towering aloft. The area below the summit but above the base of the boasts the Biechuan temple. And at the base of the peak lies the Jinshi rock. Some 300 hundred years ago, when the zen master Dangui built the Biechuan temple, he designated a dozen places as Danxia ountain's twelve senic spots. They are Jinshui Tansheng, Yutai Shuangqi, Jiege Chenzhong ,Songjian Taofeng, Zhupo Yanyu, Shuangzhao Bihe, Danti Tiesuo, Ruquan Chunliu, Luoding Futu, Hongqiao Yongcui, Pianlin Qiuyue, and Duoshi Zhaoxi.
Regardless of whether it's morning and evening sunny or raining, there are many different views that make it possible for visitors to appreciate Danxia Mountain's beauty during the Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. In the morning, we can enjoy either or the marvelous light of the sunrise or the thick clouds shrouding Danxia Mountain. In the evening, we treated to the gorgeous sunset glow and_the tranquil dim light of the night. On rainy days, looking out the distance can cause. our minds to open up and of our sadness to disappear. And during every season, these marvelous scenes can only be experienced in person. The first thing we notice upon entering the Danxia Mountain scenic spot is its gate tower in front of us. The tower is resplendent and magnificent.
The three large Chinese character “丹霞山”, ( pinyin danxia shan ), written using a brush by the vice-Chairman of National People's Congress, ) Zhongxun, can be seen on the tower. Climbing along the track up to the pavilion mid-way up the Mountain and turning left to the direction of the Jinshi Rock we arrive at the“Mengjue Pass”Crag. Although it is only ten feet wide, it has a recognizable form resembling a statue of Buddha. From this vantage point, we can enjoy the beauty of Jinjiang Rive below and the cloud and stone above.
Shortly after leaving Mengjue Pass, we see a grotto weathered by wind with the four brush-written characters “You Dong Tong Tian” written on it. Of all the numerous grottos of Danxia Mountain, Jinshi rock is the most attractive for tourists. It is well- known for the contrasts in its rock wall color throughout the four seasons. It is the first area that was developed at Danxia Mountain. Up to the Ming Dynasty Chenghua Era, the Buddhist priests planted pines and built the garden halls with winding corridors and temples. Standing at Jinshi Rock Gate, we may see what looks like a spring falling from the sky and having the likeness of a dancing rainbow under the sunshine. This is one of the twelve spots “Jinyan Feipu”. The spring was called Horse's Tail Spring and Dragon's Tail Spring in ancient times.
After getting mid-way up the mountain, we come of one of this scenic spot's most famous places, the Biechuan temple at Lingnan. It was originally built by the Zen Master Dangui at the end of Ming and in the beginning of Qing Dynasty. It was originally a refuge for the former ministers of Ming Dynasty from the troubled times during the beginning of Qing Dynasty. After being expanded several times by Li Yongmao's descendants, the magnificent temple was finally completed. It is named as Biechuan Temple under the meaning that Buddhism being not dependent on words and letters and being a special transmission apart from the teachings“.
Initially no path existed up to the summit of Danxia Mountain. Li Yongmao's descendants cut the. stone steps in the cliff behind two passes, and installed iron chains alongside the path, which then became the way up to the mountain's summit. The southern end of the summit has the Sun-view pavilion. This pavilion sits on Danxian Mountain's Zhanglao Peak and is split into two levels. It is said that viewing the sunlight from the top of Danxia Peak is much like seeing it from Mt. Huang's Lotus Peak. It is also said that¨ after visiting ever)r scenic place with beautiful sunrises, the sunrise at Danxia Mountain is the most beautiful. ”
Some friends once sighed with regret that they Could not see the sunrise after going to danxia Mountain several times. Since weather here is quite changeable, one has to be lucky to see a really splendid sunrise on Danxia Mountain. Generally speaking, the end of summer, as well as the fall and winter, are the best times to appreciate sunrise at Danxia Mountain, especially when it rains the day before and then turns sunny. On the day after it rains, there will be a very thin veil of mist around the mountain, providing a rare chance to enjoy the magnificent sunrise. Now, everyone, we finish the visit to Danxia Mountian. I hope you have a good day.
