The first case of the H7N9 virus has been confirmed in Taiwan, by the island’s disease control authority.
The sufferer is a 53-year-old man who used to work in east China’s Jiangsu Province. He returned to Taiwan on Tuesday, but developed flu-like symptoms, including fever and a cough.
He was stopped at Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport, and sent for treatment in hospital.
