Why should this day as the International Labor Day? This must start from the eighteen eighties of the American labor movement.
At that time, many countries the United States and Europe, and gradually to the imperialist stage of capitalist development, in order to stimulate rapid economic development, to extract more surplus value, in order to protect the high-speed operation of the capitalist machine, the capitalists continue to increase labor time and labor intensity approach to the ruthless exploitation of workers.
In the United States, workers have to work every day for 14 to 16 hours, some even up to 18 hours, but the wages are very low. A shoe factory in Massachusetts, the supervisor said: "for a 18 years old boy be robust and strong able-bodied, in any machine next to the work here, I can make him at age 22 into a gray hair." Heavy oppressed aroused great proletarian anger. They know, the conditions to fight for survival, only together, struggle through the strike movement and capitalists. The workers put strike slogan, is required to execute eight hours of work.

The working class to street demonstrations, to improve the working and living conditions to the government, demanding shorter working hours, execute eight hours of work. The strike soon, the team continues to expand, increase in the number of trade union membership, local workers have joined the strike movement.

However, the vicious capitalists ignore, the law is only a mere scrap of paper, the workers are still in dire straits, by the capitalists.
