Description In this position, you will be joining an energetic team in the Mobile Computin g Group to deliver Android-based software solutions for Smart phones & Tablets . Responsibilities include enabling OEMs with device drivers and software stac k components on Android-based Linux distributions based on Intel Atom Soc. You will need to engage at a deep technical level to debug and solve customer iss ues. This will require the ability to tweak the kernel, debug issues, integrat e/port applications, and to work with the open source community.
Projects: 1. Graphics Panel substitution – to abstract LCD panel as much as possible an d architect it so that substituting a new panel is a very straightforward. 2. Graphics Color correction – to abstract graphics color correction. Differ ent panels render color differently. To optimize/ transform the color represen tation to make them more appealing to end users. 3. FM Radio application using the LPE – to create an application using the au dio DSP solution(low power engine), and have a FM Tuner Application. 4. LPE(Low Power Engine) codecs and other features –to add support for new co decs besides AAC & MP3 and for VOIP apps such as Skype. To develop solutions f or Noise reduction and echo cancellation, as using the handsets in a handfree environment in the vehicle is going to be more and more important going forwar d. 5. Voice Recognition – Having natural language parsing and command capabiliti es is not new, but there is still a lot of work that can be done to improve it . 6. Power & Performance benchmarks – to setup & run, analysis them, add more s cenarios to existing benchmarks ( e.g. Games) 7. Automated test -- Create automated scripts that grab each external release and do a sanity test
Qualifications You should possess a strong interests in Linux SW/Android development experien ce. You should be a full time student (undergraduate or graduate) in universit ies.
