Job Description
The Strategic Business Development Intern will perform market research, busine
ss modeling and business plan development, on new business opportunities for t
he primary care market for Philips Healthcare in the next 5~10 years.
Job Responsibilities
• Perform market scouting on healthcare trends, new business models, or
innovative applications in emerging market
• Facilitate analysis on competitive landscape, and assessment on Philip
s Healthcare internal competences
• Document initial business plan(s) with data, dependencies, positioning
, business analysis, recommendations, risks, next steps, basic financials, etc
.
• Support in business modeling and business plan development, including
R&D, sales/marketing, manufacturing, procurement, channel network, service, qu
ality, financial projection, etc.
• Provide administrative support in daily work, and assistance in projec
t management and project activities, e.g., in-depth interviews with key stakeh
olders
• Provide administrative support in meetings and workshop preparation an
d arrangement
Qualifications
• Smart and diligent research skills – internet searching on news, blog
, and company websites, primary or secondary research review, personal product
/service usage, direct observations, etc.
• Strategic analysis capabilities - knowledge of strategic analysis fram
ework, e.g., Porter, etc.
• Critical thinking or ability to propose/debate from unconventional per
spectives for research needs and business analysis
• Strong analytical thinking and systematic problem solving skills for m
arket research sampling, financial modeling, hypothetical forecasting, etc.
• Team player, self-motivated and responsible; able to work hard for amb
itious milestones
• Good communication skills; fluent in both oral and written English
• Excellent skills in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel
• Second year in Master of Business Administration (MBA) program, or rec
ent MBA graduate (within 1 year of graduation)
• Medical background, i.e., medical/pharmaceutical under-graduate educat
ion, or trained doctor, or 3 years work experience in medical/pharmaceutica
l industry
• At least 3.5 days per week; full-time preferred
• Duration: 3 months
• When to start: immediately
