    Looking for computer vision / machine learning / application design interns
    We are building a team in China offices to develop a visual-search system for
    a non-profit NGO
    in Washington D.C.. Our goal is to leverage our expertise in image understand
    ing and search to help them better manage their image and video database. This
    project is funded by Google Research and Google.org (Mountain View). The int
    erns will work in a team starting from February, 2012, and mentored by researc
    hers from Mountain View offices as well as engineers from the non-profit organ
    ization.
    Work Location: Google China (Beijing or Shanghai)
    Position 1: Research Intern -- Computer Vision / Machine Learning
    Responsibility:
    Research on faster image and/or video indexing systems on a single de
    sktop machine;
    Research on compact image representations
    Position 2: Software Developer Intern -- Infrastructure / User interface
    Responsibility: Building Web infrastructure and front-end user interfaces.
    Requirement:
    1) At least 3 months internship, extension to summer a possibility.
    2) A solid foundation in computer science, with strong competencies in data st
    ructures, algorithms, and software design.
    3) Extensive programming experience in C (Position 1)
    Experience in Web systems (front-end, back-end) (Position 2)
    4) Research Experience in computer vision / machine learning is a plus
    5) Record of excellence in developing high quality software systems is a plus
    6) Passionate about working in a start-up like team environment.
