A spokesman with China‘s Ministry of National Defense said on July 27 that the country is making use of an imported aircraft carrier body for refitting to be used for research and training.
中國國防部新聞發(fā)言人7月27日表示，中國目前正利用一艘進口航空母艦進行改造，用于試驗和訓練。
It has been the first time for the Chinese government to officially confirm its conduction of an aircraft carrier program.
這是中國政府第一次官方確定正在進行的航空母艦項目。
There have been many media reports on the aircraft carrier before. The Soviet era warship， called Varyag， is now under extensive renovations at northeast China’s Dalian port. It was unfinished when bought from Ukraine in 1998.
之前，多家媒體曾對航空母艦進行報道。前蘇聯(lián)航母“瓦良格”號 ，正在中國東北港口城市大連接受翻新。1998年從烏克蘭購買時“瓦良格”號還未建成。
