英語的數(shù)詞可以分為基數(shù)詞和序數(shù)詞兩大類
數(shù)詞的基本作用有兩個：
一、作限定詞，與名詞一起構成詞組，如：one banana，the first time，the second longest river；
二、用作名詞詞組的中心詞，與其他的限定詞一起構成名詞詞組，在句子中充當主語、賓語、主語補足語、同位語和狀語。
作主語：Two of the students are absent today.
作賓語：She only likes one of the books given by her father.
作主語補足語/表語：Ten divided by two is fine./She's only seventeen.
作同位語：We three are all willing to help you.
作狀語：The yellow river is the second longest river in china.
平常生活中經常要碰到很多數(shù)字問題，在使用時我們要特別注意以下幾點：
1、序數(shù)詞和基數(shù)詞 five——fifth twelve——twelfth twenty——twentieth
基數(shù)詞變序數(shù)詞。其規(guī)律為：
1，2，3特殊記，加th從4起 （first，second，third，fourth）
8少t，9去e，千萬別忘記 （eighth，ninth）
逢5逢12，ve變f（fifth，twelfth）
20到90，y要變ie（twentieth，ninetieth）
若是幾十幾，前基后序別倒位（ninety-first）
21-99的兩位數(shù)，在十位數(shù)和個位數(shù)之間加連字符構成：56-fifty-six
注意以下幾個不規(guī)則的序數(shù)詞的拼寫
first（第一）；second（第二）；third（第三）；
eighth（第八）；ninth（第九）；twelfth（第十二）
2、順序（編號）表示法 一般來說，編號有兩種表示法：
（1） 事物名詞+基數(shù)詞
